The Wisconsin District Attorney IT Program

The District Attorney Information Technology (DAIT) program provides IT services and support to over 1600 customer users in all of Wisconsin’s 71 state prosecutor offices. Because of DAIT, Wisconsin is proudly one of few states in the nation where state prosecutors enjoy a secure, centrally-managed network, state-standard hardware and software, a state-standard, custom-built case management system (PROTECT) with interfaces to key systems used by the courts, law enforcement, and other justice partners, software training and efficiency consulting tailored to business needs, and a dedicated Helpdesk team to assist customers in leveraging it all.

Digital Evidence Transfer

DAIT's Digital Evidence Secure Transfer service, or DEST, provides secure transfer of files between DA offices, law enforcement, public and private defense attorneys, and other county and state agencies. This service is provided at no cost to interested Wisconsin DA offices, and use is voluntary.

Electronic Referral

Learn how your Wisconsin law enforcement agency can electronically send new case referrals, as well as supporting documentation and other attachments, to your county DA office from your existing case management system with Electronic Referrals.

Prosecutor Case Tracking

PROTECT is a robust case management system used by all Wisconsin DA offices. Created and supported by DAIT, it includes standard interfaces with all Wisconsin circuit courts, state patrol, a growing number of county law enforcement agencies, and the state Departments of Corrections, Justice, and Transportation.

Wisconsin's state prosecutors are going paperless

Increasingly, Wisconsin DA offices have let go of paper files. And in doing so, year after year, they enjoy greater efficiency, save hundreds of hours chasing files and thousands of dollars in office supplies and storage, all while conserving our State's precious natural resources for generations to come.

DAIT is proud to provide tools and resources to our customers that make this transition possible, and we invite other justice partners to share information electronically with your DA office and reap the same benefits for yourself.
